After India imposed national lockdown measures, the Responsible Mica Initiative has reallocated funds initially dedicated to community empowerment programs for mica dependent communities to providing emergency support. In coordination with the local governments the program has setup four community kitchens, supplying food to artisanal miners and their families in mica dependent communities who are unable to work due to the national lockdown. As of April 7, the program has distributed over 5,000 meals.
