Bio

Dr Stacy Hope is an anthropologist with over twelve years’ experience working as an International Development Specialist and Strategic Advisor on areas, such as gender, natural resources, renewable energy, disaster risks and climate resilience and large national and international infrastructure development projects across the commercial, public and multilateral sectors. She has worked with and lived amongst Artisanal and Small-Scale Miners, particularly ASGM, and has designed a community-based project around community monitoring of Mercury within local water sources in Guyana. She hopes to scale this up in other countries, provided the pilot is successful. Her work provides a people-centred approach that maintains gender diversity and inclusivity as key measures by which to demonstrate strong performance. Through her work with agencies such as the EU, UNDP, IFC, IDB and ICRC, as well as with governments, private sector corporations, and civil society, she has garnered practical understanding of thought leadership, diplomacy, the development of social and economic programmes in emerging markets and developing economies, investments and stakeholder and shareholder engagement. She is a strong mediator between communities and industries, governments and companies, and investors and fundraisers. She has solid practical field, policy and technical experience in Guyana, Malawi, Suriname, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Northern Brasil and Southern China. She is currently, on the International Committee for Women in Mining UK, as the Committee lead for Latin America and the Caribbean and Sub-Saharan Africa.
