I study the relationship between communities and natural resources policies, examining the equity and sustainability of resource governance in ecologically sensitive areas. For my doctoral dissertation, I contrast the pathways to mining formalization in Peru and Colombia, exploring how various collectives contest the meanings of this policy and whether communities’ claims for environmental remediation expand its scope. Other research projects I have performed examine gold traceability and integrated water management. Throughout these experiences, I have worked with ethnography, qualitative methods, and participatory approaches.
